Gallipoli Tour Trips

The Gallipoli Peninsula is a long, narrow peninsula with a hilly landscape that sometimes rises to high escarpments. There are two towns located on the European side of the Dardanelles: Gallipoli ("Gelibolu" in Turkish) and Eceabat, which is diagonally opposite Canakkale town on the Asian side of the Straits. The geology, archaelogy and landscape of the Gallipoli Peninsula have made it a popular tourist spot.

The north side of the Gallipoli Peninsula may have extreme weather conditions during winter, spring and autumn. At midnight the temperature can be very low with rain or snow in winter. High winds are common everywhere on the Peninsula. Gallipoli is also windy in summer but this provides some relief from the heat. There are only a few villages or shops to buy provisions so we recommend you bring water, snacks, medicine, etc. with you.

Toilet facilities are usually provided at museums and the Anzac Day Dawn Service commemmoration site (24-25 April only). Visitors are reminded that the consumption of alcohol at places of remembrance and use of drugs are prohibited in the Gallipoli Peninsula National Park. Turkish law has severe penalties for possession of drugs.

Visitors should take particular care on roads and walking paths within the national park. A high level of caution should be exercised around drop offs and road cuttings due to the fragility and instability of the area.

All visitors are asked to:

Strictly obey safety signs and directions
Be alert to traffic movement
Be aware of hazards from uneven surfaces
Be alert to the danger that soft road edges may give way
The better prepared you are, the more enjoyable and safe your trip will be.
